Parks commission meeting minutes for August 1st 2007
Members Present: Valerie, Leroy, Jim and Bridget. Meeting start time: 6:00pm
· Lifeguards Emily and Katie will finish their term on August 23rd.
· Kealy Farnum will sub on the weekends and fill in as needed. Coverage for Labor Day weekend is still in the works.
· Worst case lifeguarding scenario is one guard on duty.
· Wish list for the beach: New chairs? Visitors can bring their own chairs rather than purchasing new ones. Changing room? Maybe somewhere in the far future but right now it does not appear that there is adequate space.
· We need to put up swim at own risk sign when lifeguards are off duty.
· Valerie completed and submitted the grant for the “big belly” trash receptacles.
· Parks commission has been asked to participate in the “I love Monterey day” parade. Bridget and Valerie are going to brain storm on ideas.
· Sand completed at beach- no bill yet
· Wood chips completed at playground- no bill yet.
· Beth Brown quoted Bridget $675.00 for a new Monterey sign at the beach and $275.00 for a take in take out trash sign. The members decided to look around and hold off on using Ms. Brown’s services.
· We are going to look into finding someone that has the screen print of the town emblem.
· Valerie will go to select board meeting on Monday to discuss with them the conflicts about boat launching. The park commission’s stand is that there is no boat launching during the swimming season.
· Jim Edelman voiced his concerns that the baseball park is not being taken care of properly. He does not want to pay for a job that is not being done. It was decided that Jim would call Gary Obrien and discuss his concerns.
